The Beginning.
Aurangabad, 1984.
Most metal finishing and deburring operations during this era were performed manually. These processes had obvious limitations on productivity, accuracy and consistency of result and finish. Thus, GrindMaster emerged to develop and produce automatic and semi-automatic machines in order to overcome this lacuna.

Milestones

• 1984 To 1991 - Technocrat  couple Mr. Milind Kelkar & Mrs. Mohini Kelkar began their successful career working from a small garage in Aurangabad. Their first endeavour was to develop a Buffing Machine for polishing pots and pans. Then they built Automatic Machines for the Grinding of the parting line of Forgings; followed by Manual Machines for Grinding and Polishing.

Soon they had developed the country's first indigenously designed Fully Automatic Motor Cycle Rim Polishing Machine which thus far always had to be imported.

• 1992 - 1996 Grind Master set up its new manufacturing premises at B-14, MIDC, Aurangabad and consolidated its expanding range of machines in terms of components and build-quality. This proved crucial in the successful export of machines starting with South East Asia and expanding to countries all over the world.

• 1997-2001 Grinding and Polishing is a result of the perfect combination of Machine and Tool. In order to provide our customers with complete solutions Grind Master ventured into the business of consumables.

We consequently forged a technical collaboration with VSM Germany for a complete range of coated abrasives sold throughout India. A Conversion Plant set up in the year 2000 has been successfully manufacturing coated Abrasive Belts and Rolls ever since.

• 2002-2003 Grind Master starts developing Micro-Finishing technology for the processing of Automotive Parts and Hard Chrome Plated Rolls.

Upon signing a licensee agreement with IMPCO, USA for the GBQ Technology for micro-finishing of Crankshafts and Camshafts, Grind Master joined the small elite group of world companies which have the capacity and expertise to manufacture niche sophisticated metal finishing machines.

• 2004-2009 Consolidation at home, a much needed gear-up for future expansions began with investments in infrastructure and machinery. The systems were smoothened out with the implementation of Axapta – ERP Software.

Grind Master soon expanded into the World Market through participation in International Trade Fairs such as EMO - Hannover and Tube Fair – Dusseldorf.

• 2010-2011 Immediately after extending the IMPCO License to China, Grind Master began manufacturing Crankshaft Microfinishing Machines for the Land Of The Dragon. General Motors, Shanghai, features amongst our list of customers for whom a state-of-the-art High Volume Crankshaft Micro-finisher was commissioned and delivered successfully.

Grind Master has established its presence with a permanent office in China to provide sales and service support.

• 2011 We at Grind Master are in a continuous flux of innovation ... Our Current R&D Challenges include Robotic Deburring and Finishing Systems.
